The Rock-N-Learn Phonics Easy Readers DVD contains four "books" designed to complement the company's Phonics Volumes 1 & 2 DVD set. Each "book" contains three separate, illustrated stories. Highlighted text guides the beginning reader through the story as the narrator reads. The illustration and text change as the story progresses, similar to turning the page in a book. The illustrations match the story but aren’t animated. There are musical segues between stories and between sentences, but no music while the narrator speaks. Each "book" contains a few instructions at the beginning. The instructions assume the parent knows how to present the material. The stories start with "Pat has a hat" and progress to compound verbs, compound subjects, and multiple dependent clauses. The last story represents mid- to late third grade reading level. The same order of presentation of the vowels, consonants, diphthongs, digraphs, etc is used as in the Phonics Volumes 1 & 2.

This is a good supplement to any phonics program. It would function similarly to you reading a limited vocabulary story to your child. This DVD provides a little extra practice for the beginning reader in a slightly different format to help encourage familiarity and ease with reading.
