Samuel Lopez, the author of The Miracle of the Little Kitten, founded Compassionate Pet Sanctuary with his wife Cheri. Together they've "rescued hundreds of dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, owls, goats, geese, and other animals." Many of these have gone on to loving homes. This sweet little picture book, illustrated with simple colored pencil drawings and photographs, tells the story of how Farmer Samuel hears the cries of a kitten in distress and searches all over to find it. At last when it seems hope will be lost, his dog (who stars in a book of its own, Stinky Little Scroungy) finds the kitten and takes matters into its own paws. The dog rescues the kitten and brings it to the farmer. The farmer and his wife nurse the kitten, the kitten grows, and eventually...

Having walked the aisles of the local Humane Society, looking for a pet to give a forever home, our children appreciated the story. They were on the edge of their seats throughout the search for the kitten, a little anxious as the farmer began to nurse the little creature back to life, and all smiles at the happy conclusion.
